Ultrasound for patients

A straightforward guide to the scans CDS offers and what an appointment involves.

Your clinician requests a scan for a reason connected to your care. CDS carries out the examination and sends a written report to your registered GP practice. The practice tells you the result.

Abdominal

Imaging of organs in the abdomen, such as the liver, gallbladder and pancreas.

Pelvic

Imaging of the pelvic organs.

Transvaginal

An internal scan sometimes used to see pelvic organs more clearly. This is explained before the examination.

Gynaecological

Ultrasound used as part of a gynaecological assessment.

Renal

Imaging of the kidneys.

Bladder

Imaging of the bladder.

Prostate

Imaging of the prostate.

Testicular

Imaging of the testes.

Musculoskeletal

Imaging of muscles, joints and soft tissue.
